Christian Peace Witness 2009
Wed 29 Apr 2009 04:36:09 PM EDTWhile President Obama was holding a nationally televised press conference to mark the 100th day of his administration, hundreds of mostly progressive Christians were gathered outside the White House, some risking arrest as they press the president for a quicker end to the war in Iraq. Christian Peace Witness for Iraq of more than 20 faith-based peace groups, will participate in a public act of repentance for the war and ask the president to join them in beginning the work of reconciliation and rebuilding in Iraq.
Witness Against Torture 2009
Thu 30 Apr 2009 06:25:23 AM EDTOn Thursday, April 30th, 62 members of Witness Against Torture 100 Days Campaign were arrested at the gates of the White House demanding that the Obama administration support a criminal inquiry into torture under the Bush administration and release innocent detainees still held at Guantanamo. Facing the White House, each of the arrestees wore the name of a Guantanamo inmate who had been cleared for release or who had died at the prison. A giant banner they carried read "Justice Delayed is Justice Denied."
Holy Week 2009
Sat 11 Apr 2009 12:11:26 PM EDTDuring the Faith and Resistance Retreat in D.C., we went to the Department of Energy and the Pentagon. We became a procession of mourners, mourning for all the victims of wars, for those killed and injured by nuclear weapons, and those threatened by US nuclear policies and empire expansion.
